New York Bengali Film Festival (NYBFF)
The New York Bengali Film Festival (NYBFF) is an annual celebration of Bengali cinema and storytelling, hosted by Bengalis of New York (BoNY). Since its inaugural edition in 2023, the festival has provided a platform for filmmakers of Bengali origin and works with prominent Bengali themes, welcoming both emerging and established voices.
Held at Village East by Angelika in New York City, NYBFF presents a curated selection of features, shorts, and documentaries, all subtitled in English to reach a wider audience. Each edition showcases the cultural richness, social depth, and artistic diversity of the Bengali-speaking world, offering audiences in the U.S. a chance to experience its unique narratives on the big screen.
The 2025 edition, scheduled for Saturday, July 19, 2025, will feature an exciting lineup including Nani (Mainak Dhar), Dui Shaw (Nuhash Humayun), Westerner’s Screener (Munasib Hamid), The Difference Between Us (Imran Siddiquee), Portrait (Kunal Chowdhury), Joyeeta (Tamanna Islam), Almost Home (Menhaj Huda), and Soma (Alisha Bhowmik).
The Mubarak Ali Foundation (MAF) is proud to partner with NYBFF, aligning with its mission to foster cultural legacy and creative collaboration. Through this partnership, MAF supports cross-cultural exchange, amplifies the voices of Bengali filmmakers, and helps bring globally significant artistic expressions to broader audiences—celebrating innovation, heritage, and the power of storytelling.
